Bike Week Pictures 3 - Loch Lomond Cycle Path 20/06/06

Cycling Scotland headed to Loch Lomond on the Tuesday of Bike Week, where Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority welcomed Tavish Scott MSP to Firkin Point. The Minister for Transport formally opened the West Loch Lomond Cycle Path which runs from Balloch at the southern tip of Loch Lomond to Tarbet.
The Minister cycled to the launch accompanied by James McCallum, Commonwealth Games 2006 Bronze Medalist for Cycling and pupils from Arrochar Primary School. The group was joined by National Park Board members and volunteers, Cycling Scotland, Sustran Volunteer Rangers and Transport Scotland.
Speaking on the day, Tavish Scott said, “Schemes such as the Balloch to Tarbet route encourage more people to cycle and walk in a safe environment. This new route along the banks of Loch Lomond will give people a safe, car-free route along which they can enjoy some of the best scenery Scotland can offer."

Tavish Scott MSP tries out the new cycle path.

The routes proves to be suitable for penny farthings too.
