Bike Week Seminar 2008

Bike Week can help you:

If you are involved in:

  • promoting cycling in your area,
  • encouraging people to be more physically active,
  • promoting countryside access or tourism
  • travel planning
  • sustainable transport
  • fundraising

or just generally love cycling, then you may want to consider orgaining an event as part of national Bike Week.

What is Bike Week?

Bike Week is the UK's annual celebration of cycling and takes place this year from 14 - 22 June. All kinds of cycling events take place in Bike Week for all kinds of reasons. Workplace travel planners organise bike-to-work days to encourage staff to give healthier and more sustainable transport a chance, and reward them with a free breakfast or lunchtime bike picnic. Local authorities organise mass bike rides to celebrate the opening of new cycle paths. Charities organise sponsored rides to raise money. Cycling organisations organise all manner of events, from bike film festivals, bike related world record attempts to gentle introductory rides aimed at beginners.

If you think getting involved in Bike Week is for you, but you're not sure where to start, Cycling Scotland is running two seminars to help get you started.

Cycling Scotland promotes and supports Bike Week in Scotland. We can help event organisers plan and promote their events. Cycling Scotland are holding a Bike Week Seminar on 12th February at Victoria Quay, Edinburgh giving expert advice on all aspects of Bike Week from deciding what type of event to put on, best practise in event organisation, PR and promotion and information on the various benefits that Bike Week can offer.

Cycling Scotland can also promote events via our website and through press and media campaigns, and attend and support events across the country. We organise the annual MSP Bike Ride, which gets Scottish politicians out on their bikes and supporting Bike Week in the national media.
