Cycle Trainer
This is a qualification aimed at those training both children and adults in on-road cycling skills from the basics of learning to ride to cycling on busier roads. It incorporates the Cycle Skills Trainer qualification and covers instructor training. Those with the Cycle Skills qualification would be exempt from day 1 of the total 4 days.
For children training is usually provided at ages 10-11 (Primary 6) as part of the curriculum. It can either follow on from cycle skills training given in the playground or be a better substitute for cycle proficiency delivered in the playground.
For adults the training would be appropriate for a group of inexperienced adults as part of green transport plans for businesses and other large employers, particularly where 'pool' bicycles are made available for employee use. Other community groups, such as 50+ networks, Community Education classes etc. could also be targeted with this training.
