The lasting legacy of the Commonwealth Games has a permanent fixture in Edinburgh with the unveiling of commemorative cycle stands at the city’s Meadowbank Stadium. Launched as part of the Legacy 2014 Active Travel programme, all Team Scotland Glasgow 2014 medallists nominated public places where stands in their medal colour would be installed. One bronze stand in honour of Shooting 50m Bronze medallist Jennifer McIntosh and a silver stand to recognize Louise Haston’s Silver medal in the Cycling Para sport sprint have been unveiled at Meadowbank.
Grants of up to £5,000 available to groups who encourage cycling in their community and deliver sustainable cycling projects.
Today we visited Glasgow Caledonian University to see all the great ways they are encouraging cycling amongst students and staff as part of the the Cycle Friendly Campus Award development program.
