Adult Cycle Training

Many adults who take up cycling to work can find that after a long period of not cycling, their confidence on the roads is a bit shaky. Cycle training is an ideal way to regain confidence and get the skills you need to cycle amongst traffic.

Commuter Course

This course is aimed at providing cyclists (including new and returning cyclists) with the skills and confidence to tackle everyday road conditions.

This is an 8hr course, which can be delivered over 4 weeks as 2hr sessions, or as a full day or two half day units.

By the end of the course canidates will be able to:

  • Check a bikes is safe to use
  • make minor adjustments and carry out simple roadside repairs
  • plan a journey
  • make an independent journey

The course places great empthasis on practical experience, and is principally delivered out of doors.  The on-road cycle training aligns with the three level national standard, but ultimately we use professional tutors who can tailor the course to the specific needs of the individuals to reach the four outcomes noted above.

Cycle Commuter can also be used as ideal preparation for workplace staff teams taking on a cycle challenge, such as the annual Pedal For Scotland ride or Bike Event activities.  Through regular commuting, course candidates should be able to undertake social rides in comfort with confidence in their ability and preparation to get the most enjoyment from the event.
