Delivering Bikeability Scotland

Get involved!

Our volunteers have a crucial role in the delivery of Bikeability Scotland training within schools across the country.  Without our volunteers, cycle training would be beyond the reach of many primary schools, and pupils would miss out on a valuable life skill. Your support is key to the creation of the next generation of confident and responsible cyclists.

We are currently looking to recruit Bikeability Scotland Cycle Training Assistants in all areas across Scotland.

As a Bikeability Scotland volunteer, you can get involved in cycle training in your local area – with full training and support available. We offer two qualifications:

Cycle Training Assistant

This 1 day course is designed to allow the candidate to assist in the delivery of levels 1 and 2 of the Bikeability Scotland scheme.
The Cycle Training Assistant course has been created in response to the demand for a standardised and accredited qualification to support the induction and training of volunteer instructors.

Cycle Trainer

The course focuses on teaching on-road cycling skills, starting with basic control skills and learning to ride to cycling on busier roads.
Graduates of this course are qualified to:
• develop and deliver their own cycle training courses
• deliver all three levels of the Bikeability Scotland scheme if associated with Bikeability outlet
• deliver the one day Cycle Training Assistant course to new instructors once accredited through the CTA orientation course
