Cycling Scotland is pleased to announce the return of freshnlo Pedal for Scotland 2009 – the 11th Glasgow to Edinburgh bike ride will take place on 13th September – and you’re invited.
So jump on your bike and join thousands of others riding across the country from Glasgow to Edinburgh. It's a great way to see Scotland's stunning countryside and you'll burn thousands of calories to boot. And whether you're up for a leisurely ride or a personal best, you'll feel brilliant about yourself when you cross the finish line.
The 50 mile route of Scotland's biggest and best mass bike ride Pedal for Scotland is the perfect way to get into shape. What's even better is that there are 7 months to train for the ride, so signing up now will provide months of motivation for you to get out on the bike.
Ford Kiernan urges riders to raise funds for Maggie's
Chewin’ the Fat and Still Game star, Ford Kiernan, got on his bike to encouarge people across Scotland to sign up for this year’s freshnlo Pedal for Scotland bike ride and raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres.

The 55 mile ride, which takes place on Sunday 13th September, beginning at Glasgow Green and finishing at Victoria Park in Edinburgh, takes in some of Scotland’s historic landmarks and stunning scenery along the way.
With over 5700 taking part last year, this year is set to be even bigger. Riders don’t need to be super fit or have a fancy bike to take part – they just need to be up for the challenge! Last year, participants of all ages took part, so the whole family can join in. With Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres as the official charity partner riders can also raise money for a good cause.
This year the event is introducing iconic Scottish brand, freshnlo, as its new headline sponsor. The UK’s first low fat milk has a proud history of supporting mass participation events, including the Great Scottish Run. A nutritional family favourite, freshnlo is the perfect partner for the country’s biggest bike ride.
Pedal for Scotland was established by Cycling Scotland in 1998 to promote cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice and is now Scotland’s biggest bike ride. There are regular rest stops, free snacks and entertainment along the route making it the perfect way to enjoy the countryside, stay fit and have fun.
